A lot has happened in the last few months to explain my absence and lack of postings. I decided to visit my boyfriend as well my friends in the States during our big break from school so that I could re-stock on supplies (and support) before returning for the second semester. My plan was to spend a little bit of time at home and spend an equal amount of time here in China to travel around the country. Unfortunately, my travels around China were cut short by my mother's health problems as she had a heart attack that led to her being in a coma for 2 weeks. To all those who sent prayers and love and support, I thank you.
Either way, I have just returned from Belgium 2 days ago and I am relieved to say that she is recovering well although the road ahead is a long one. I wanted to share images of what happened upon my return to my apartment in China...I believe visuals will do this more justice. So I'm exhausted from taking 2 flights to get here (airtime=23 hours) and a 4-hour bus to get home. I enter the apartment and it wreaks of sewage; a pungent odor greets me and I carefully follow it to the bathroom door.
The sight that greets me is sickening...Hundreds of black flies all waiting for me on the wall of the bathroom and a disgusting sight on the floor next to my toilet. Mind you, the moment I open the door, they flew out and ATTACKED ME!!! No lie, they just flew out so the pictures don't really show just how many of these flies there were!!!

Those are hundreds of small dead flies...not sure how they died but their bodies are on my window sill |
|
All those black dots on the wall....those are flies! Again, most of them had already escaped out the door by then.
Then to my horror, I discovered something else...On the wall and at the floor of my bathroom near the floor drain were tiny little moving organisms...let's say minuscule worms that had grown out of the sewage from the leaking pipe in my bathroom which btw, I asked the school to fix over 4 months ago and they said "the budget committee and all the teachers have to approve this renovation". So no fix. |
These were definitely little moving worms in both of these pics. I had never seen that before although I've had the sewage problem since day 1 of living in this apartment.
So these I originally thought were flies but I looked closely and they're actually worms....This was taken on my phone so bad quality, sorry.
This has gotten a little out of hand, wouldn't you say??? I post this as an attempt to let the general public and Ameson know the direness of the situation. My skin is already breaking out and I feel unsafe using this bathroom so if the school tries to make me pay for leaving, I can show that I had a very valid reason. Here's hoping these pictures convince them to Fix My Bathroom!!!
